People who hate spending hours in the gym, but want to stay fit, here’s some good news for you. A skipping rope is what you might need for a full-body workout without spending thousands on gym sessions.
According to a new study, skipping targets all the body’s muscles. Using a skipping rope, you can easily make up for all the cardio sessions you have been missing out. Published in the Journal Research Quarterly, American Association for Health, Physical Education, and Recreation, the new study has found that skipping is one of the most effective cardio exercises. The exercise also resulted in better cardiovascular health.
For the purpose of the study, the researchers compared jogging and skipping for a period of six weeks and found the latter to be more effective. It was found that 10-minute jump-rope sessions a day were more efficient than 30-minute jogging sessions. Participants demonstrated improvement in their cardiovascular health.
It was further stated that skipping burns more calories per minute and engages more muscles than rowing or swimming. Here’s one more reason to make a skipping rope your best workout friend.
