Smartphone users need to carry a portable wireless charger to get their devices running all throughout the day. Thankfully, now, a new device will soon enable smartphone users to charge their phones wirelessly from across the room.
“WattUp” is a wire-free, power-at-a-distance router that beams energy to devices connected to a receiver to charge them wirelessly. “WattUp” charges the device wirelessly by converting electricity into radio frequencies, reported BGR.
You can place the wireless router on a desk at home, on a bookshelf, on a table at a coffee house or wherever you go and charge your smartphone easily. The prototype version of “WattUp” has been able to charge at up to 91.44 cm (3 ft) away.
Notably, the wire-free router can charge multiple devices at once including phones, tablets, smartwatches etc regardless of brand. The U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has reportedly approved the first ever power-at-a-distance wireless charger built by Energous.
