Newbies Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter starrer Dhadak is off to a pretty decent start raking in a whopping Rs 33.67 crore in the first three days of release. The film collected Rs 8.71 crore on Friday, Rs 11.04 crore on Saturday and Rs 13.92 crore on Sunday.
Dhadak is a Hindi remake of the massively popular Marathi film Sairat. Both Janhvi and Ishaan have made their Bollywood debut from the film. Janhvi’s Bollywood debut comes at a time when she’s still not over mourning the death of her mother and the late superstar Sridevi. Sridevi breathed her last in Dubai on February 22 this year. She got by accidentally drowning in the bathtub of a hotel room. The actress was brought to Mumbai three days later and cremated with state honors.
During a recent interview with Hindustan Times, when Janhvi was asked what the success of Dhadak means more to her, she said the love that she is getting from the audience is pretty overwhelming.
“The love has been overwhelming,” the 21-year-old actress said. “More than anything else, it feels good to know that we’ve moved people with this message that we were trying to convey. I’m just happy about any form of acceptance, so I have a chance to work more and do better at what I love. To see my father (film producer Boney Kapoor), Shashank (Khaitan, director of Dhadak) and Karan (Johar, producer of Dhadak) feeling so proud and happy means the world to me.”
When asked about her father Boney Kapoor and younger sister Khushi Kapoor’s reaction to the film, Janhvi said, “Khushi was crying… She looked at me and said, ‘Why are you worrying?’ and then started crying again. Papa actually saw the film a month ago, and as soon as the screening was over, he went to the temple. That night he came to my room and held me tight and started crying.”
We would like to congratulate Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter for their film.
